The underlying concept of the service validation and testing process is aimed at ensuring the quality which is offered in the service offering and developed in the service design. The testing is a deciding factor within the service management. The key prerequisites for a successful service test are the requirements defined in the service level packages (SLP). The following guidelines must be drawn up within the framework of the service transition phase and provide support for the implementation of the quality requirements:

  • Service Quality Policy
  • Risk Policy
  • Service Transition Policy
  • Release Policy and
  • Change Management Policy

The superordinate approach, organization of the tests and allocation of the test resources are defined with the help of a test strategy. Structured tests are intended to demonstrate the utility, i.e. the usability. However, testing is also required of the adherence to the warranty targets and the service level guarantee. The contractual and regulatory requirements must also be tested in order to ensure the Corporate and IT Governance.
